CHAPEL PERILOUS – LP

Wednesday, May 23rd, 2012

23 extreme regenerative vocal tracks
vinyl release April 2012 –
Fragment Factory – http://fragmentfactory.com

Press release : “After a prolific 2011 with a handful of splendid releases on CD, DVD and cassette + collaborations with the likes of Charlemagne Palestine, Julien Ottavi and The Master Musicians of Joujouka, “Chapel Perilous” marks the debut vinyl release and first proper solo album by the Paris based audio/visual artist and curator of the exquisite Erratum label. 23 tracks, totalling approx. 35 minutes, compiled from recordings made in the course of the past eight years, de- and recomposed for this album in early 2012. Drawing on his voice as the main tool, Montessuis delivers a frantic opus of cut-up noise poetry, making “Chapel Perilous” le chef d’œuvre of his extending body of work.”

140g black vinyl, edition of 317 copies.
Mastered by Fred Alstadt at Angström, Brussels // Lacquers cut by Yann Dub at Reverse, Barcelona.

one hour glossolalia for Resonance FM
composition Joachim Montessuis – April 2010

A guide to artists on the fringes of art and experimental music that work primarily with the voice and text. Produced by Oliver Fay. http://glossolalia-ailalossolg.blogspot.com

From extreme strange poetry to shamanism, this one hour vortex piece focus on and brings together a bunch of abstract vocalists, non-semantics poets, musicians, psychics and screamers of the 20th and 21st, digging the space of vibratory experience above languages, where sound, poetry and music are merged : reactivation of the breath in the process of recreating reality and the inner mutant. Meeting point and wild entanglement of channeling processes, psycho-voodoo, possessions, trances, extasis, hypnosis, speaking in tongues, glossolalia, language of the birds, madness, delirium tremens, screams, chants, Artaud’s Charabié, etc… pure vocal energies in an opened furor : Clash of the titans, for real.
Pneuma is Greek for “breath”, which metaphorically describes a non-material being or influence. Pneumatology is the study of spiritual beings and phenomena, especially the interactions between humans and God(s).

With the vocal and sound presences of :
Marina Abramovic, Pierre André Arcand, Antonin Artaud, Altagor, Martin Bakero, Manuela Barile, Christian Bok, Black Lodge Singers, Jaap Blonk, Anne James Chaton, Henri Chopin, Bob Cobbing, Fulbe Cowherders, Romina Daniele, Damião Experiença, Dokaka, François Dufrène, Margaret De Wys, Rudolf Eb.er, Eduard Escoffet, Evil Moisture, Kazumoto Endo, Lars Gunnar Bodin, Kendell Geers, Michel Giroud, Keiji Haino, Raoul Hausmann, Sten Hanson, Ake Hodell, Joël Hubaut, Isidore Isou, Ernst Jandle, Spike Jones, Bryan Lewis Saunders, Junko & Mattin, Kotai+mo, Brandon LaBelle, Language Removal Services, Sébastien Lespinasse, Arrigo Lora-Totino, Phil Minton, Masonna, Fatima Miranda, Meredith Monk, Joachim Montessuis, Sainkho Namtchylak, NON, Dylan Nyoukis, Julien Ottavi, Serge Pey, Artur Petronio, Jörg Piringer, Maja Ratkje, Henry Rollins, Demetrio Stratos, Crank Sturgeon, Remko Scha, Dick Sutphen, Christophe Tarkos, Ghédalia Tazartes, Roland Topor, Petr Vasa, Michael J.Weller, Yanomani’s rain and group healing songs, Omega Man, Gil Wolman, Yat-Kha, Randy Yau.
